UBE (Uniform Bar Examination)

The UBE is a professional examination for aspiring lawyers in the United States. Each state administers its own Bar Exam, though they follow similar structures. Passing the Bar Exam allows you to practice law in that specific state.

Over 35 states accept in USA, more than

1000 000 lawyers in the United States are required to pass the Bar exam for licensure

more than 50,000candidates take the UBE each year in various jurisdictions.

How to become a UBE certified?:

  • Graduation from law school: You generally need to have graduated from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law school, or meet equivalent qualifications (if applying from a foreign law school).
  • Good moral character: You will need to demonstrate that you have the character and fitness to practice law. This involves submitting a background check and undergoing a character and fitness evaluation.
  • Pass UBE exam.
  • MPRE: In most states, you will need to take and pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE), which tests knowledge of legal ethics and professional conduct.

What exams are to be taken?

On the exam day, you’ll need to complete the exam in the set time limits for each section:

  • MBE: 200 multiple-choice questions (6 hours total).
  • MEE: 6 essay questions (3 hours total).
  • MPT: 2 tasks (3 hours total).
